An eight day sculpture Camp on dates 16th to 23rdDecember 2017 was organized in the Park at the Mannapalla Lake banks adjacent to the Campus of the administrative building of the Udupi Nirmithi Kendra in Manipal.
This sculpture camp was organized by the Udupi Nirmithi Kendra with the support of The District Administration Udupi, Department of Tourism, Government of Karnataka and the Mannapalla development committee.
Conceptually cement and mixed media works were generated keeping in mind the open area where these works of the artists would be installed
In the list of talents invited included Shri Ganesh Urala, Manipal, Shri Dwarakanath, Mysore, Shri Pramod Shilpi, Shri Anis Shilpi, Shri Sunny Joseph, Kerala,Shri Mahesh Baliga, Baroda, Shri Vishwanath,Moodubidre, Shri Vijaya Kumar, Chennai, Shri Gururaj S Naik and Shri Anil Bangalore.
The created Art objects were installed in the park where it contributed to the aesthetics of the prevailing sylvan ambience at the Mannapalla Lake banks. The camp had every day evening sessions where artists had presented their body of work through video and slide presentations.
Artist Ravikumar Kashi hosted a session on the eve of the camp inauguration on 16-12-2017 with a session on the topic “ Interaction between the Tradition and the Contemporary in Visual arts.”
